Adult Obesity:

Getting Yourself Off The
Escalating Treadmill Towards Poor Health

Adult obesity is a rapidly growing unhealthy trend which seems to be rising at a never before documented rate. The entire medical community at large is trying ineffectively to explain this phenomenon. They are also trying to devise a plan of actionwhich will curtail this rapid increase of illness and disease. Slower recovery times and an accumulation of undesirable symptoms are a result of this extra girth.

Nowadays, people eat for way too many reasons. We eat because we are bored, scared, lonely, depressed, while at a social function, when we imbibe on a beer or other alcohol plus a whole host of other reasons.

The body itself has only one use for food. It is the source of energy for our body.

We can obtain good health with the right mix of foods in the right quantities. We will obtain poor health by eating too many fats, too much sweets, pies, cakes, sodas or high concentrated fruit drinks. Each of these, though many people enjoy them, are just an empty source of extra calories with little to no diabetic nutrition.

Common Factor Leading To Adult Obesity

All of us, usually at a family holiday gathering, end up eating too much. You are uncomfortable for a few hours and then you are back to normal eating habits.

Some people have this uncontrollable urge to eat constantly though. Feelings of guilt and shame will overcome them but still they continue to stuff themselves with all kinds of foods as fast as they can. Even when they are not hungry the desire is still there to keep right on eating, usually for hours at a time. Hiding sweet foods for easy, fast availability or so they do not have to share their favorites is a common trait of this individual.

This condition is known as binge eating disorder. It is not always that uncommon to see it to some degree in the diabetic. Obviously, after several times a week repeating this behavior, adult obesity is going to be the final result..

Forcing yourself to see a doctor is usually the last move you wish to make. This is often because you really do not understand that there is a problem or you are too embarrassed to admit you have the problem. But for your own future health, the quality of your life and to help you work through this situation, a visit to a doctor is mandatory. The only thing you are working towards is a future of heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol. Add to this a whole list of other minor little ailments which will plague you on a continuous basis.

The largest problem with adult obesity for most though is your own feelings of self-loathing and low self-esteem because of the snide remarks and constant whispers about your looks. People can be cruel and unforgiving towards anyone not considered part of the norm.
