Calcium Deficiency:
More Than Just Strong Bones

Although vitamins are of extreme importance, a calcium deficiency or any of the other minerals is just as important for the safety of the human body.

Everyone has heard that calcium is needed for strong bones, but it also has several other very important functions in the human body.

  • relieves muscle and menstrual cramps

  • reduces and/or maintains your blood pressure

  • guards against depression

  • helps to guard and control the three major factors of heart disease

    1. high triglycerides

    2. high blood pressure

    3. High cholesterol

Recommended Daily Allowances

Current research again suggests a minimum of 1300-1500mg for women and 1000 to 1200mg for men is better than the actual figures released as the RDA. It has actually been noted that if 2000mg daily of dietary calcium is continuously consumed, this can lead up to a 25% decrease in your triglycerides, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. All of this should only be attempted though under the direct supervision of your doctor.

Common Food Sources To Prevent Deficiency of Calcium

There is some excellent food sources to obtain calcium in our diets but the problem is very few people can consume enough of these daily to get the required suggested minimums.

So for safety purposes, it is recommended that along with your other daily vitamin supplements, try adding some vitamin MK-7 to your everyday routine. This vitamin has the added advantage it can take the calcium from the foods you eat and channel them into your bones to prevent weakening of your bone structure. By adding this form of vitamin K to your diet, you can effectively raise your calcium reserves:

  • swiss cheese

  • skim milk

  • yogurt

  • many varieties of other cheeses (monterey jack, provolone, cheddar, muenster, colby, brick or mozzarella)

  • broccoli

So although a calcium deficiency can lead to trouble within your bones and teeth, there is also many other attributes it is responsible for in the human body to sustain a healthy and happy future life.

Strive to avoid one of the possible early symptoms of diabetes by keeping your calcium levels in check.
