Diabetes and Eye Symptoms:

Prevention of Eye Disease By Learning
The Early Symptoms Of Diabetes

During the early stages of type 2, diabetes and eye symptoms can be so hard to notice that most people do not even realize there may be a problem. If they can see pretty well they just assume everything is OK. Unfortunately, eye disease (retinopathy), starts long before any adverse symptoms have developed into the symptoms of diabetes.

What Are The Signs Of Diabetes And Eye Symptoms

Retinopathy, or eye disease, is caused by a lack of blood circulation to the retina of the eye. Uncontrolled blood sugars over extended periods of time lead to damage to the tiny blood vessels that carry blood to the eyes. With increased pressure and a lack of sufficient blood flow, the supportive blood vessels are continuously degrading. Eventually blurred vision, leading to blindness can be the end result if steps are not taken to control your high blood sugars.

There is also other secondary conditions not often as prevalent, but just as important requiring good health care if you start noticing any type of eye symptoms

Treatment For Eye Disease

Because this is a disease of the tiny blood vessels that supply your retina, the test will be performed by a specialist, not your family doctor. An optometrist or an opthamologist will do a test known as a dilated eye exam. If the advanced stages of the disease are found, the normal recommended treatments include laser treatments or possibly eye surgery.

Also, in the fields of alternative medicine, success has been noted from using several forms of nutritional support, specifically two different extracts which are used in combination.

Gingko is an herb, rich in flavonoids which is capable of increasing the blood flow to the tiny capillaries of your eyes thus keeping them more flexible which allows more eye-saving nutrients to reach the eye and eyelids.

The second is known as Eyebright, many people believe it was thus named because of its proven effectiveness of promoting the health of the eye and any of the surrounding area.

Both of these, used in conjunction under the advise of a practitioner, has reported excellent results in helping the over 50 crowd to help relieve some of the stress and tension commonly felt because of troubling symptoms.

Preventing The Progression Of Retinopathy

Fortunately our eyes do have the capability of re-growing new blood vessels which can enable blood flow to the eyes themselves. Unfortunately though, the newer vessels are not as strong and resilient. If your blood sugars are therefore not brought under control, the disease will just keep progressing again until eventually it will lead to blindness.

So although diabetes and eye symptoms are not actually noticeable until the complications have already progressed to blurred vision, good diabetic health care and preventative maintenance can be initiated to often reverse many of these adverse symptoms.
