Early Symptoms Diabetes :

To Aid In Diagnosis And Health

The early symptoms diabetes often will help your doctor to lead him to an early and correct diagnosis. Make a log or journal with all of your observations: dates, time of day, foods eaten or any special circumstances you felt was unusual. Using all of your observations will help the doctor decide if these are really early symptoms of diabetes or if it could possibly be some other condition.

Symptoms By Type Of Diabetes

Determining early symptoms diabetes in the various forms is a question and answers game at the onset of testing. Your answer to several basic questions will help guide your doctor to a diagnosis. So common questions which may come up for each type of diabetes are outlined below:

  • Pre-Diabetes: Some doctors use this term while others will vehemently state there is no such thing.. According to them, you either have it or you don't. Since there is no symptoms at all during these early stages, diagnosis must be done through blood work.

  • Type 1 Diabetes: The early symptoms diabetes in a type 1 diabetic is usually determined very quickly. Type 1 diabetes has a sudden onset of symptoms, usually within weeks you will go from ill to seriously ill. This type of diabetes is common to children or young adults but the incidence is rising in adults to the dismay of many in the field of medicine.

  • Type 2 Diabetes: A type 2 diabetic will observe a long gradual decline in their symptoms. Often during the first 5-10 years, unless a routine blood test is taken, the patient won't even realize there is a problem. During this time your body is not responding to insulin correctly or your body may be finding it difficult to produce enough insulin for your everyday needs.

  • Gestational Diabetes: This form is diagnosed only during pregnancy but it is not unusual a woman will feel absolutely no symptoms at all. Many doctor's realize they can not rely on patient's observation so a standard routine blood test and blood pressure readings are taken around the 5th to 6th month of pregnancy to check for the possibility of gestational diabetes.

So although the early symptoms diabetes is noticeable in many instances, some people may actually not show any outward symptoms at all and a routine blood test and urinalysis that was run at your doctor's office could be the road to an accurate diagnosis.
