Milk Allergy Symptoms In Children:
A Tendency To Change

Are you concerned about milk allergy symptoms in children? Even though in infancy diarrhea and spitting up seem to be the two most predominant symptoms of a dairy allergy, as your child grows up from infancy into adolescence, the type of symptoms in children has a tendency to change.

All milk allergies have a general list of symptoms that can be a normal part of the condition. These include:

  • immediate results after ingestion will usually show labored breathing, especially wheezing

  • face, arms and body will break out with hives

  • vomiting and/or diarrhea

  • abdominal cramps

  • coughing

But during the middle years of a child's life, the symptoms which are usually more prevalent seem to be chronic rhinitis (runny nose) and inflammation of the respiratory system. You may also notice some swelling of the lips and tongue. It is very unusual for these symptoms to develop so severely that milk allergy symptoms in children will lead to anaphylaxis.

Most symptoms of milk allergy in children have a tendency to be harder to diagnose though as a food allergy because symptoms are so similar to many other childhood diseases. Much time and observation is usually needed before the doctor can actually determine it is a food allergy. Once diagnosis is confirmed, chances are greater with ongoing medical supervision as the child ages,to prevent future serious health issues because of consistent on-going care.
