Milk Allergy Symptoms: Infant to Adult
Milk allergy symptoms come in a wide variety, often going full circle at different stages of an individual's life. Usually an infant's symptoms of milk allergy will include consistent diarrhea and spitting up. The exact same child during childhood and adolescence years will show a different set of symptoms- usually a chronic stuffy and/or runny nose. As the child ages to young adulthood, the symptoms now normally include abdominal pain and cramping with intermittent diarrhea possible. Then on to the advancing years of adulthood, your symptoms will revert back to the beginning- diarrhea. Although every person will show a different set of symptoms, each of these below are commonly reported as symptoms of a milk allergy:- vomiting
- chronic diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- poor absorption of nutrients
- eczema (skin rash)
- urticaria (skin rash commonly known as hives)
- coughing
- wheezing
- rhinitis (runny nose)
Remember, though, you will never see all of these symptoms at the same time. Do not wait and wonder what may be the problem if you start noticing unfamiliar symptoms in your health. Get to a doctor as soon as possible for testing to see if they truly are symptoms of milk allergy or a sign of something else. Alternative Myths and Legends ExplainedMany people have the mistaken impression if they always get milk allergy symptoms from cow's milk, just drink goat's milk instead. But goat's milk does have many of the same components as cow's milk, such as casein and whey. Therefore, it is often unlikely the two can be interchangeable. Also, a false remedy has been passed through the generations, that by heating the milk first, this will prevent an allergic reaction. Again, do not try this on a person highly sensitive to milk. All milk proteins are very highly resistant to heat. It is unlikely this will result in the outcome you have desired.
