Preventing Food Allergies:
Possibilities To Increase
The Odds Of Good Health

Many new parents are now questioning about preventing food allergies because of all of the increased exposure of this topic in the news. Unfortunately, to date, there is no actual method of prevention or even a cure.

Possible Tips For Increasing The Odds
On Preventing Food Allergies

Continuous research, test studies and actual patient studies from birth to adulthood have shown very little conclusions, just a lot more questions. Some of the possible findings though which may reduce the severity of the symptoms if an allergy does develop include the following:

  • Breastfeeding vs. "The Bottle"
For the first six months minimum, your baby should have nothing but breast milk. Slowly start introducing foods (rice cereal is recommended) after 6 months but continue predominantly on breastfeeding until 12 months of age. It may become necessary for the mother to slow down or stop eating certain foods which are considered highly allergenic during this time to try to prevent infant allergies and increase the baby's safety.

  • Strong Immune System
Building and maintaining a strong immune system can often reduce allergenic triggers or the signs and symptoms of the food allergy or intolerance.

  • Controlling Temptation
Another possible method of controlling the onset of allergies can be described as the control of temptation. We all have our food favorites- generally we eat this item often. Many doctors believe that by abstaining from eating any particular food(s) too often, you actually do reduce your chances of an allergy. Our bodies frequently build up an unwanted response to foods we consume too often.

  • Good Digestive Health
Good digestive health practices, kidney and liver cleansing, fasting intermittently etc. all lead to a stronger defense system against food allergies.

Although to date there is no solid treatment program for preventing food allergies, both conventional medicine and alternative therapies do offer suggestions that may reduce the chances of you or a loved one having to live with food allergies the rest of your life.
