Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookies

Fill My Tummy --- Cookies, Please!!

My family just loves the good old-fashioned favorite right off the box. Unknowing to them though, I do try to cheat on that recipe a little.

I always change the butter to applesauce instead. It seems to keep them soft and moist for longer.

Then I rotate my add-ins. Sometimes I use dried cranberries, or dried apricots. My kids like it when I add chopped english walnuts.

Just remember though, when you add some of the dried fruits, take away about 1/2 of the sugar or they get too sweet, especially after they sit for a while (which is about two hours with my family.)

And then my youngest child thinks they are great with little mini baking chips mixed into the dough. She thinks it's just some kind of chewy chocolate chip cookie. She's still too young to know the difference.

So as you can tell, our family favorite is just a cornucopia of whatever Mom decided to put in it that day while she was baking.
