Symptoms Of Type 2 Diabetes:

Controlling The Odds Of
Early Symptoms Of Diabetes

Although millions of people do have the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, most of these people pass off the small inconveniences as inconsequential or of no importance. But if you happen to notice a small cluster of these symptoms together, often the early symptoms of diabetes may be to blame. Check with your doctor for some simple tests to verify your suspicions about any of the following signs:

  • excessive hunger or thirst

  • extreme urgency to urinate or difficulty in holding your urine

  • passing urine very frequently all day, and then two to three times every night during sleeping hours

  • you feel constantly tired and sleepy

  • blurred vision

  • excessive sweating, dizziness or shakiness

  • muscle and joint pain

  • difficulty raising your arm(s), called "frozen shoulder"

Remember you are not going to have all of these symptoms of type 2 diabetes. Every person is different and all conditions will affect each individual uniquely. But with 2 to 3 re-occurring signs from this list, it is time to see your doctor.

What Are Blood Glucose Levels

During the doctor's visit when you receive the diagnosis, generally you will be shown how to check your own blood glucose (sugar) levels. This can easily be done with an at-home test kit. Below is a comparison chart you can use to check your readings with. This will give you and your doctor a good indicator of where you are and what kind of work needs to be done.

Record all of your daily results by date, time of day, when you had eaten last and the type and amount of foods eaten. This will give both of you the necessary tools to set up an ideal program structured for your dietary and exercise goals to enable you to reach your ideal numbers. Trying to keep your numbers in the normal range will in effect rid you and your body of any the the symptoms of type 2 diabetes.
