Vitamin B12 Deficiency
Causes Exhaustion,
Forgetfulness, and Depression

If you are mentally exhausted, forgetful, or depressed you could have a vitamin B12 deficiency. The results of this will leave you feeling anemic with resulting nerve damage. Many people after diagnosis are started on a doctor's supervised program of B12 injections which helps aid with the symptoms of chronic fatigue.

Vitamin B12 in your system is always used in conjunction with the other B vitamins to help maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells. It is also needed for the production of the genetic material called DNA and RNA in your body's cells. Therefore, with a combination of B6, B12 and folic acid (another B vitamin) an ample supply of red blood cells is produced to oxygenate the blood in your system.

Why Does An Egg Allergy Interfere With B12 Levels

The primary sources of vitamin B12 are some meats, eggs and hard cheeses. There is no source of vitamin B12 from any plant-based food such as fruits or vegetables. Therefore, the egg allergic, vegans, and some vegetarians are pre-disposed to low levels of vitamin B12. It may be necessary to start a plan to use supplements in your diet.

Common Sources Of Vitamin B12 Foods

Other than egg products, the following include some other sources of vitamin B12. Use these to help boost your levels for your own health and safety.

  • Liver

  • Sardines

  • Haddock

  • Corned Beef

  • Fortified breakfast cereals(check label- must be the fortified variety)

  • Hard cheeses

  • Turkey

  • Pork

Severe Case Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Formerly a fatal condition due to the lack of adequate testing procedures to come to a diagnosis, Vitamin B12 deficiency, also known as Pernicious Anemia, can now be totally prevented or controlled with early diagnosis and proper treatment. This allows the individual to lead a completely normal life.

Pernicious anemia is generally a hereditary disease, so if you have a relative diagnosed with Pernicious anemia, it is recommended every few years you get your blood tested to check for early symptoms. Pay attention to your B12 levels to avoid early symptoms of diabetes.
